History in the Making!

At the beginning of each calendar year, the LEHP National Chair sets a goal for the number of vision screenings we plan to undertake through our Children’s Vision Screening Program. For 2026 this number was set at 17,000 - five thousand higher than in 2025.

We are pleased to announce that we have officially exceeded this target already - and it’s only July!

Our incredible teams around Australia and New Zealand have been busy visiting childcare centres, schools, community groups and sports clubs, screening children between the ages of 3 and 18, completely free of charge. It is only because of their efforts and commitment to the program that we have been able to make such a big impact on local communities.

We are not slowing down - we have plenty more screening sessions booked in for the rest of the year, setting us up for the biggest year ever.

To give some context, so far this year we have already completed:

• over 5000 more screenings than all of 2018-2022 combined

• over 7000 more screenings than all of 2023

• over 2000 more screenings than all of 2024

These numbers prove just how valuable this service is to the community. It’s a rewarding service project that is also fun and we encourage every Lions Club to get on board in making a real difference.
